I then project managed 19 tracks from around the world + mastering and manufacture with the help of Michalis Timemachine in Greece over the past year... my main focus was the exclusivity to the Vinyl only spirit of the journey, as we and the bands/artists are Vinyl lovers... so just to let you know the Album is a Vinyl only release into next year... 500 limited edition only."

"Yesterday's Sunshine Today"

New Magical Covers of Nirvana

(1967-1969) VINYL

Here's a story...

In July 2019, Patrick asked us to participate in this special vinyl only Nirvana (UK) tribute project. The timing Patrick contacted us was perfect...as a cool photograph of 1960's Nirvana just appeared on our Tumblr timeline unexpectedly (we don't often see Nirvana (UK) photos especially on Tumblr), so we shared the photo on Tumblr and Facebook then he suddenly contacted us about the project.

To look back, we must have been one of the last bands Patrick asked to take part, as songs we wanted to cover were already taken by other bands. Then he suggested us that he's got this previously unreleased song called 'Flowers For Friday' which he recorded a demo and sent it to us along with chords and lyrics. We immediately loved the song and started learning/arranging the song. Then, Anthea had an accident and got 6 stitches on her finger...obviously she couldn't play the drums, so John started recording a demo including newly composed intro/outro parts and completed this demo version of 'Flowers For Friday'.

Compare to the original demo we received from Patrick, our version of 'Flowers For Friday' was much slower tempo and we also added intro, outro, solo parts and so on, so the length of the song became nearly 5 minutes (original demo version was a bit more than 4 minutes long). Then, Patrick contacted us and saying that the track must not be longer than 2:30 minutes! We thought BOLLOCKS! we really wanted to hear this earlier...but sent our 5 minutes long demo to Patrick anyway and told him that we have to re-arrange the song to fit to 2:30 minutes. Patrick really loved our demo we sent and suggested us to keep the vibe (he even suggested us to use this demo as the final mix...!) as he loved this much slower version of the song including instrumental tracks such as Mellotron, harpsichord, Hammond organ and so on. We decided not to re-arrange the song but have to shorten the length of the song somehow in order to keep the vibe!

So, we re-structured the song by cutting solo and ending parts and then shortened intro parts. But it was still too long! Then, we sped up the song a bit and cut whatever we can but the song was still too long. We drew a conclusion that in order to keep the vibe, we cannot make it faster and decided to go on. So we finally recorded the song and created 3 different versions of the song. Version 1. - Fade in and shorter fade out (2:30 minutes), Version 2 - Shorter fade out (2:52 minutes), Version 3 - Longer fade out (3:18 minutes). We then sent him all the 3 versions of the song and asked him to pick one for the project. Patrick chose Version 2 (2:52 minutes) which was a bit more than 2:30 minutes but he told us that he'll sort it out. And he magically sorted it out...! WICKED!!

We documented the recording sessions. You can visit VIDEO DIARIES, PHOTOS and NEWS ARCHIVES 2020 and 2024. ENJOY!!

Lastly, we'd like to thank Patrick Campbell-Lyons & Alex Spyropoulos again for their wonderful and beautiful music. Also special thanks to Michalis Lagopatis from Timemachine Productions in Greece and Roger Houdaille from Think Like A Key Music in the US.
