- Our tribute to Denny Laine on 5th December 2023 -

So sad to hear the news of Denny Laine passing…RIP Denny Laine

We can’t thank Denny Laine enough for what Denny and Mike Pinder did for us in the beginning of our life as Clockwork Flowers in Japan after having spent more than a decade in the Himalayas. No one cared our music, no one considered us as musician and we had nothing more than a laptop, a cheap guitar, a microphone and a sort of field recorder with USB output so that we can use it as an audio interface! In that poor condition, we recorded a song ‘Here We Go Round Avebury’ in 2009 and it was awarded in 2010 by Mike and Denny…we can’t describe how happy we were back then…but no one cared and people just ignored us like nothing happened…

The following year we recorded 3 more songs ‘Good Morning, Lord Kitchener’, ‘Take Off’ and ‘The Time’ in that situation (no drums, no bass and so on…very poor quality) and all 3 songs were awarded…this time, we thought this can’t be coincidence and maybe, just maybe our music isn’t too bad though people kept ignoring and didn’t even consider us as musician in Japan. We’re totally aware of that it is very difficult to support us in that situation, especially in public…you’ve got to have guts and determination but Mike and Denny did! What a brave men! The 60s never die…

On New Years Day 2023, after 12 years since then…we started a new project ‘Electric Wonderland’ - re-record our unreleased original album ‘Wonderland’ (2009-2011) which includes 4 award-winning songs by Mike Pinder and Denny Laine. As we now have more microphones, more guitars, a proper audio interface, a keyboard, a bass and a snare drum (not a kit!) and of course ‘recording skills’. Incidentally, we’ve just completed (mixed/mastered) 2 songs ‘Here We Go Round Avebury’ and ‘Good Morning, Lord Kitchener’ recently…Thank you Denny for your kind support and your wonderful music you created!!
